Vice President of Malawi Is Declared Dead by Plane Crash
Along with Vice President Chilima, nine other people who accompanied him on the flight were also killed.
On Tuesday, Malawi’s vice president, Saulos Klaus Chilima, was declared dead after his plane crashed into the country’s northern forests.

Along with Vice President Chilima, nine other people who accompanied him on the flight were also killed. Confirmation of the decency of the officials was given by the president, Lazarus Chakwera.
“The search and rescue operation I ordered to find the missing plane carrying the vice president and nine other people has concluded. And the plane has been found. I am saddened and deeply sorry to inform you that it has turned out to be a terrible tragedy,” Chakwera said in a televised message to the nation.
“The search and rescue team found the plane near a hill in the Chikangawa Forest and found it completely destroyed with no survivors, as no passenger on board survived the impact,” said the African state jede.
“More than 200 Malawian soldiers participated in the search for the vice president” Army Chief Lieutenant General Paul Valentino.
They also collaborated in the search, forest guards and medical personnel, despite the quantity of human material, the bad weather conditions of the search area.
“Chikangawa has very thick terrain and this morning we experienced bad weather conditions, which caused reduced visibility,” explained the lieutenant general.
Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu said the Communications Regulatory Authority of Malawi (Macra) had contacted other regulators in neighbouring Zambia and Tanzania to provide technical support and expertise to locate the aircraft.
By Monday night, the plane had already been reported missing, because it failed to reach its destination at Mzuzu International Airport, capital of the Northern Region.
