Russia and Chad Agree to Optimize Trade Relations

Lavrov commented that the delegation of the Chad Chamber of Commerce and Industry is part of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said on Wednesday that his country and Chad agreed to optimize trade relations in order to raise them to the level of political, defense and humanitarian cooperation.

During his visit to the country, as part of his tour of several African nations, Lavrov met with the President of Chad, Mahamat Déby, and other authorities. He subsequently gave statements to the press.

‘We have agreed that at this stage the utmost attention should be paid to efforts that will enable us to bring our commercial and economic links, investment interaction to the high level where our political dialogue, our ties in the field of defence and security, humanitarian aid and education», he said.

«We agreed that our Chadian friends will convey their wishes about those forms of interaction, sectors of their economy in which they consider useful the presence of Russian economic operators», he said.

The Russian Foreign Minister is expected to move to Burkina Faso at the next stop of his tour.
