“The neo-fascist parties won the elections of the European Union. They will win there but they will not pass here,” he said, alluding to the presidential elections of July 28 in which he will seek re-election.

“Latin America will stay free of fascism, far-right, hatred, and violence!” he emphasized during a proselytizing event, in which leaders of the ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV) participated.

According to preliminary results, the European People’s Party (EPP) emerged as the main force in these elections, with 189 seats, which would allow the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, to renew her position through alliances with the social democrats and liberals.

On Sunday, President Maduro also addressed the plans that the Venezuelan far-right is making against him with the purpose of defeating him in the presidential elections on July 28.

“They have a group of hitmen looking for us to harm us,” he said during an event with leaders of the ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV) in Caracas.

In the planning of these political destabilization actions, former legislator Julio Borges and former mayors Leopoldo Lopez and Antonio Ledezma are involved. Currently, these far-right politicians, who have fled the country, are accused by Venezuelan justice of conspiracy.

Available information also indicates that opposition politician Maria Corina Machado is involved in the far-right’s plans. In recent weeks, she has been touring the country promoting the presidential candidacy of former ambassador Edmundo Gonzalez, who is supported by the Democratic Unity Platform (PUD).

The Venezuelan leader indicated that the dates and locations of his campaign events are not announced in advance due to “security reasons.” For this reason, his supporters find out about campaign events shortly before they take place.

“My arrivals must be a surprise. The people take care of me, and the security teams are doing a good job. I am in God’s hands. I’m heading to the meeting places to fulfill my mission,” Maduro said.

Since he became president in 2013, the Bolivarian leader has been the target of over 30 assassination plans organized by far-right opposition forces. In 2018, Maduro survived a drone attack unscathed.
