Venezuela Sign Energy Partnership Agreements with Trinidad and Tobago

The meeting held in the Sol del Perú hall, at the Palacio de Miraflores, in Caracas.

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, headed this Wednesday a work agenda to strengthen the map of energy cooperation with the government of Trinidad and Tobago.

At the signing ceremony, important documents were signed as part of the licenses for exploration and exploitation of non-associated gaseous hydrocarbons in the Cocuina field of the deltana platform.

The meeting held in the Sol del Perú hall, at the Palacio de Miraflores, in Caracas.

The event was attended by the executive vice-president, Delcy Rodríguez; the Sectoral vice president of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez, The Minister of People’s Power for Oil and President of Pdvsa, Pedro Rafael Tellechea, among other authorities in the Executive Cabinet.

The delegation from Trinidad and Tobago was represented by the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Stuart Richard Young, accompanied by a delegation from the Government of the Caribbean Island.

In this regard, the head of State stated:

“To the entire delegation of Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, we continue to take monumental steps as you say, Minister Stuart Young, to consolidate a relationship of good neighbourliness and brotherhood which is and should always be a relationship that serves as a model in the world for relations of cooperation and peace, increasingly”. 

He recalled that, in the face of the intrigues and hatreds that are intended to impose between both nations, the Peace Diplomacy for cooperation and development, as well as common sense, The feelings of brotherhood. “It is the diplomacy of the new world and cannot be the diplomacy of threats. There is a multipolar world”.

The head of Energy and Energy Industries in Trinidad and Tobago, for his part, stressed that “It was here at Miraflores, President Nicolas Maduro that you told us to do it quickly and thanks to the efforts of the teams (…) Once again we have shown the world what happens when two fraternal countries work in a way united, in difficult times, stand up for what is right, the sovereign rights of two countries”. 

Among the agreements signed:

Authorization for the tax admission of the production of the Cocuina Field of the deltana platform.

Agreements on the time-frame for the implementation of the Manakin-Cocuina Field Area Unit.

Approval Act concerning the functional and governance structure for the operation of the Manakin-Cocuina Field Area Unit.

Authorization for the tax admission of the production of the Cocuina Field of the platform.

License for the exploration and exploitation of non-associated gaseous hydrocarbons in the Cocuina Field of the deltana platform.

Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago have expressed their commitment to the reactivation of energy cooperation and in the search for formulas for the normalization of gas and crude oil supplies.
