Venezuela: Criminal Gang That Intent to Generate Violence on Election Day Caught
The governor of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, denounced this Saturday that they disbanded a criminal gang that intended to attack the regional and national electricity system.

This gang was flagrantly arrested at the Ureña substation, when they created conditions to exploit the transformers and leave the Táchira states without electricity, Merida, Trujillo, Barinas, Apure, Zulia and Yaracuy.
The arrest occurs less than 24 hours before the start of presidential elections in Venezuela.
“The state of Táchira has been the scene of an attempted sabotage of the electrical system that, if carried out, could have left several regions of Venezuela without electricity, local authorities reported. The governor of the state, Freddy Bernal, reported on the arrest of six individuals, including two Colombians and four Venezuelans, who were surprised while trying to enter the Ureña electrical substation with explosive materials.“
Bernal said that six individuals were arrested who allegedly intended to carry out terrorist acts against the Regional and National Electric System, in the substation of Ureña.
In a message posted through his account on the social network X, the military chief specified that these people were seized 15 meters of High-voltage power supply and three industrial oxygen cylinders (oxidizing gas).
In addition, the authorities seized a 10-kg mandarria, a vehicle of the Ford Explorer brand, a Chevrolet Aveo vehicle, four mobile phones, Two machetes and a three-ton chain saw (machine tool for the hoisting of internal combustion engines, among other functions).
