UN Official Killed by Israel in Attack on Al-Maghazi Camp, Gaza

UNRWA warned that the risk of unexploded ordnance is spreading throughout the area.

Palestinian authorities denounced on Friday the attack by Zionist forces on the place where food is stored north of the Al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza where United Nations (UN) officials were murdered.

According to the UN, two employees were killed, while one was injured in the Israeli attack. According to information platforms the attack came after a statement by the Commissioner General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini.

Lazzarini said that earlier this week, Israeli authorities issued new evacuation orders for the population of Gaza, forcing hundreds of thousands to leave Khan Younis and Rafah in the south.

These orders affect almost a quarter of a million people, most of them already displaced, on multiple occasions. “People have nowhere to go. They are desperately looking for a safe place that does not exist, erecting makeshift structures often over the rubble of bombed-out buildings,” he said.

Lazzarini also warned that the risk of unexploded ordnance (UXO) is spreading, noting that last week, “a nine-year-old girl allegedly died of UXO in Khan Younis and six other children were injured”.

More than 200 UN officials have also been killed in Israel’s genocide against Palestine in the war in Gaza that has also left more than 38,000 Palestinians killed.
