“As if the tragic events in Israel and then in Gaza over the last eight months were not enough, the people of the occupied West Bank are also being subjected day after day to unprecedented bloodshed,” he said.

“Widespread impunity for such crimes has been common for too long in the occupied West Bank”.

“Such impunity has created an enabling environment for Israeli forces to commit more and more unlawful killings. International law must be respected and enforced, and accountability ensured”.

“The verification of the deaths and the in-depth monitoring of more than 80 cases by the UN Human Rights Office indicate constant violations of international human rights law by Israeli forces”.

The killing of Palestinians by Israeli forces, which had already reached a record level in the first nine months of 2023, increased dramatically since last October.

Since early 2024, Israeli forces have killed nearly 200 Palestinians, compared with 113 and 50 killed in the same periods in 2023 and 2022, respectively.
