Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico made his first appearance on Friday, following the assassination attempt in May, which left him badly injured.

Fico makes his appearance on the 1.161st anniversary of the arrival of Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius, a national holiday in the country, celebrated at Devin Castle in the capital Bratislava.
During his speech Fico praised his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán and reiterated the call for peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
The Slovak Premier had been recovering at home after being wounded in the attack on 15 May, when he was shot in the abdomen while greeting his supporters in the town of Handlova, some 140 kilometres north-east of the capital.
Her attacker, a man identified by prosecutors as Juraj C., 71, was arrested and charged with attempted premeditated murder. This week, prosecutors elevated the case to a terrorist attack.
According to the perpetrator himself the reasons for the attack were purely the defendant’s disagreement with the directions taken by the politician regarding Ukraine and Russia.
