Accompanied by thousands of people in Caracas, he shook hands with those who took to the streets to express their support to the Bolivarian Revolution ahead of the presidential elections to carried out on July 28.
“The people united will never be defeated!,” President Maduro said as he addressed the crowd cheering him from outside the Miraflores Palace, the seat of the Venezuelan executive power.
“Today, 70 cities witnessed the strength of the people in the streets. Millions of men and women saying in unison: the campaign for the great victory of July 28 has begun!” he pointed out, emphasizing that the Venezuelan people will honor the memory of Commander Hugo Chavez with the victory of the revolutionary forces in the presidential elections.
“We are winning and by a good margin. However, no one should be complacent… I extend my hands to everyone, we have gone through tough and heroic times,” the Bolivarian leader said.
“In the face of every sanction, we have found a solution. In the face of every aggression, we have carried out more revolution,” President Maduro recalled, stressing that the electoral campaign has started in an atmosphere of peace.
“Today we have seen in Venezuela a beginning with the strength of peace and love. God is with us,” Maduro said and anticipated that the people will deliver a great electoral defeat to the Venezuelan oligarchy and its right-wing candidates.
The text reads, “The mainstream media does not tell you this. The electoral campaign in Venezuela began and this is the Chavista march. Several foreign correspondents arrived in Caracas to report on this electoral process. Here our colleague Yunus Soner from Turkiye reports for teleSUR’s English-speaking audience.”
During his visit to the state of Zulia, the Venezuelan President was also warmly received by thousands of people in the San Francisco municipality.
“I wanted to start the 2024 campaign in Zulia, a territory that transmits love and the strength of Cacique Nigale, Cacique Mara, and Gen. Rafael Urdaneta,” he said, alluding to historical figures of Venezuelan independence.
“When the right wins, the people lose,” Maduro stated, recalling that when opposition organizations managed to control the National Assembly, the far-right parties used the legislative power not to help the people but to ask the United States for sanctions against Venezuela.
