President Maduro Highlights the Participatory Nature of Venezuelan Democracy

The Great Patriotic Pole will lead a profound transformation towards greater peace and growth, he said.

On Sunday, President Nicolas Maduro held a meeting with tens of thousands of residents of Porlamar, in the state of Nueva Esparta, where he stated that the Venezuelan people are moving towards a truly popular, participatory, and more direct democracy, in which four consultations will be held each year for the communes to approve projects to be implemented in their territories.

As part of his campaign ahead of the July 28 elections, the candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole also previously visited the states of Apure and Barinas. In Nueva Esparta, he rejected the plans of the Venezuelan far-right, which seeks to create instability and anxiety to overshadow the elections. He warned that the authorities will not allow acts of violence or attacks against the national electro-energy system.

“If they cause blackouts before, during, or after the elections, they will regret it for 200 years… That will be the last mistake they make trying to harm the people. Enough!” Maduro emphasized, and reiterated that holding four national consultations per year is an expression of the Bolivarian Revolution’s direct democracy of the 21st century.

Maduro stated that only the Great Patriotic Pole has a plan to undertake a profound popular transformation of Venezuela towards a horizon of greater peace, economic growth, and participation.

The Bolivarian leader also expressed his support for Venezuelan women and condemned the far-right’s misogynistic and racist rhetoric.

President Nicolas Maduro’s text reads, “How much love and conviction I saw in the Bolivar state’s historic town. It is a land of brave men and women who accompanied our Commander Chavez. I am the president of the working class and we are going to win the July 28 elections.”

Maduro reaffirmed his commitment to build at least three million new social housing units in the next six years, 400,000 of which are already under construction and will be delivered during 2025.

The Great Patriotic Pole’s presidential candidate once again denounced the intention of the Venezuelan oligarchy to privatize and hand over the oil sector to the United States.

“We are heading for a great victory on July 28. We will hold the Caracas’ racist oligarchy accountable for the U.S. invasion that is taking place through economic war, blockade, and sanctions,” he said.

“I am Nicolas Maduro, president of the people, and we will triumph next Sunday in Margarita, in Coche, and throughout Venezuela,” he added, reminding citizens of the importance of staying organized to achieve a resounding victory on July 28.

“On that date, the future of Venezuela for the next 50 years will be decided. On that day, those of us who love the homeland of Bolivar and Chavez have a date with history,” the Venezuelan president stressed.
