This project, which covers 23 hectares and will benefit 1.8 million people, was rehabilitated thanks to financing provided by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).
“Putting this hydrocomplex into operation fills me with great emotion,” the Bolivarian leader said during the handover ceremony.
“The homeland was born with Simon Bolivar’s sword in the Carabobo municipalities,” Maduro recalled, explaining that the hydrocomplex will improve the quality of water consumed by the residents of Valencia, Naguanagua, Tocuyito, and Libertador.
President Nicolas Maduro’s text reads, “What a tremendous caravan of my motorized sisters and brothers from Carabobo. Thank you all for your support. We are going towards a great victory on July 28.”
The Venezuelan president also thanked CAF President Sergio Diaz-Granados, who facilitated the release of resources for the hydrocomplex that had been blocked by U.S. allies.
“The government of former Colombian President Ivan Duque and Juan Guaido blocked nearly US$600 million in resources for water and electricity… We couldn’t buy spare parts, even though Venezuela has rights as a CAF member,” Maduro said.
“Building projects like this one brings well-being and satisfaction to the people. We are touching the hearts of the people and igniting their love for the homeland. Everything we do, we do with love and energy,” he pointed out.
On Thursday night, the Venezuelan president also attended the handover ceremony of the Jose Felix Ribas Theater in La Victoria, Aragua state.
