Maduro announced the measure during the national peasant meeting that was held in Acarigua, Portuguese state, where more than 6,000 leaders of the Venezuelan countryside participated, coming from the states of Zulia, Trujillo, Mérida, Táchira, Barinas, Guárico, Apure, Cojedes, Miranda, Lara, Bolivar, Aragua, La Guaira, Portuguesa and Caracas.
The Head of State stressed the importance of production reaching markets directly without intermediaries or speculators. He explained that the special fund will allow “you to build your instruments, not depend on anyone. True power is when one depends on no one.”
“This meeting brings together more than 6 thousand leaders of the peasant force, from the states of Zulia, Trujillo, Mérida, Táchira, Barinas, Guárico, Apure, Cojedes, Miranda, Lara, Bolívar, Aragua, La Guaira, Portuguesa and the capital of the country, Caracas.“
“You produce and no one can come to ignore you», he added. He specified that the fund will be placed in the Ministry of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movements so that it reaches each one of you. We must go towards the path of strengthening the People’s Power in the productive economy. We must promote the conucos,” he said.
Maduro highlighted the contribution of the peasantry in food production and in guaranteeing food sovereignty, now that the country achieved one hundred percent self-sufficiency. In that sense, he praised the efforts made by the peasantry of Portuguesa, whose results made that state worthy of the headquarters of the national peasant meeting.
““(…) My greetings of solidarity, revolutionary, Chavista, to the fighting people of the Venezuelan fields. This wonderful encounter with the deep peasant leadership is overflowing, this is the deep and beautiful Homeland”, were the words of the head of State @NicolasMaduro when valuing the work of the brave peasants of the country.“
The president also heard opinions from producers, who expressed their interest in regulating the price of their products. In addition, they conveyed full support during the 28J presidential elections.
On the other hand, Minister of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, said that the peasant sector is loyal to the Bolivarian Revolution. He added that «the coffee sector this year refuses to deliver the harvest to the intermediary (…) We will be able to have the best harvest», he said.
