Plane Transporting the Vice President of MalawiDisappears
The aircraft carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima, 51, left the capital, Lilongwe, at 9:00 am ( local time), but did not land at the Mzuzu International Airport, the flight’s destination, some 370 kilometres north.
On Monday, an airfield carrying the vice-president and other officials from Malawi was reported missing. As reported by the country’s presidential office, search efforts are still being carried out, but without success.

The aircraft carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima, 51, left the capital, Lilongwe, at 9:00 am ( local time), but did not land at the Mzuzu International Airport, the flight’s destination, some 370 kilometres north.
Aviation authorities lost contact with the plane when it “went off the radar,” according to the statement from the office of Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera.
“All efforts to establish contact with the plane since it went off the radar have failed until now,” the presidential office said in a statement.
The president ordered the national and local authorities to “conduct an immediate search and rescue operation to locate the whereabouts of the aircraft”.
