New Power Outages Turn off Lights in Ecuador
The blackouts are due to the need to intervene in the main hydroelectric plant due to the increase in flows due to heavy rains in the country.
On Friday, in Ecuador, electricity cuts have once again been made, organized by schedules and blocks, product of the energy crisis that the country has been going through for several months.

The blackouts are due to the need to intervene in the main hydroelectric plant due to the increase in flows due to heavy rains in the country.
“Due to the increase in flows in Coca Codo Sinclair, sediments rose again. At 04h00 the gates were closed and it is necessary to make power cuts”, warned in his account of the social network X the national operator of Electricity (Cenace).
He noted that different distribution companies check schedules and electricity cuts in certain sectors.
Power cuts had occurred weeks ago, but at that time due to the intense drought in the area where the hydroelectric plants are located, now affected by heavy rains.
The new cuts resumed two days after Ecuador suffered a national blackout due to a failure in an electrical transmission line.
At 15:17 local time on Wednesday the lights went out throughout the country and the acting Minister of Energy and Mines, Roberto Luque, said then that “there was a failure of the Miracle Zhoray Transmission Line that generated a ‘blackout’ (blackout) to the national system”, which gradually reconnected.
