Hamas Rejects Results of Ceasefire Talks in Gaza

Walid al-Kilani stated that the results of the dialogue do not meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

The spokesman for the Palestinian Resistance Movement (Hamas), Walid al-Kilani, rejected on Friday in front of the media the results of the current talks on Gaza in Doha, capital of Qatar, and claimed that these are inconsistent with the agreements of 2 July, which Hamas accepted.

Hamas spokesman also said that the Palestinian resistance has not yet decided to participate in the next round of negotiations in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, as there is no real commitment to the proposals that Hamas has presented before “and that the occupation has previously approved”.

“We will meet again in Cairo at this level before the end of next week with the aim of closing this process once and for all,” he said, assuring that the parties have reached a consensus in the dialogue.

On this day, USA. presented to Israel and Hamas a ceasefire proposal, allegedly aimed at reducing the gaps between the parties, which resulted from negotiations that took place between Thursday and Friday, in which Hamas representatives did not participate.

This weekend, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Israel to be part of the negotiations.

Talks began on Thursday in the capital of Qatar, with teams from the US, Egypt and Israel. The US side rated its beginnings as promising.

Although Hamas claimed that it will not participate in the negotiations for the time being, it requested a road map based on a proposal from US President Joe Biden and accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The dialogue covered issues including territorial control along the Gaza-Egypt border and the return of displaced civilians in Gaza.
