Fuel Shortage Threatens To Disable Ambulances in Northern Gaza

According to Palestinian Red Crescent, the shortage of fuel and gasoline supplies in the Northern Gaza strip threatens to stop ambulance and health relief services, specially in Al-Awda Hospital.

The Hopsital authorities said that it may cease operations within the next 24 hours due the fuel shortage, Mohammed Salha, the hospital’s acting director, said in a statement that “the health sector in northern Gaza is suffering from a shortage of medical supplies and the depletion of fuel.”

Salha added that “the hospital will be forced to stop operating within 24 hours if fuel is not delivered by the World Health Organization,” which will increase the humanitarian crisis in Gaza due the Israeli genocide.

Since the beginning of the renewed outbreak of conflict on 7 October, the Israeli military has targeted Gaza’s hospitals and healthcare infrastructure, rendering many hospitals non-operational and endangering the lives of patients and the wounded.

In addition, the Israeli occupation forces has also restricted the entry of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and fuel into Gaza, permitting only minimal assistance for international organizations.

In this regard the Gaza’s government and the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) have confirmed that the limited aid entering the Strip is insufficient to meet the vast needs of the population.

Early this Sunday, IDF troops killed some 20 people in the Gaza Strip, including several children, as a result of a series of bombings of houses in the north, the centre and south of the enclave, bringing the death toll to 40,099.
